The London Borough of Lewisham’s talent took centre stage at Lewisham’s Got Talent during August 2008 - just one of many events that we have created and organised for Lewisham Centre.

Following the huge success of TV shows like ITV1’s The X Factor we teamed up with Lewisham Council to stage a borough wide talent competition to find the person or group, with the best talent in Lewisham.

Hundreds of hopefuls were whittled down to just 20 acts over July and early August. Auditions were held in the mall generating buzz, footfall and increased dwell time. The Grand Finale on August Bank Holiday 08 attracted record numbers of visitors, generating a 22% increase in footfall (33,999 vs. 27,816 in 2007)

Commented Deputy Mayor Cllr Heidi Alexander (Cabinet Member for Regeneration):“This is by far the best thing I have done in my four years of being  a councillor.”

Press coverage took in radio, with live broadcasts at each event, through to press in the major titles in the region, as well as a huge online presence in the run-up to attract participants.
